Leslie Duran

Instructor

Leslie Duran, MS, OT (C) completed her Masters degree in occupational therapy at Colorado State University in 1995. She has experience working in a variety of settings including residential care, transitional care, and academia. She is currently a Community Resource Occupational Therapist with Island Health, where she provides practice support to interdisciplinary Community Health Services teams across Vancouver Island.

Leslie has extensive experience teaching occupational therapy assessment and theory across North America and worldwide. She has co-authored articles published in peer-reviewed journals such as Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Australian Journal of Occupational Therapy, and the American Journal of Occupational Therapy. She has also authored several book chapters and is currently a doctoral candidate in the Centre for Distance Education at Athabasca University.

Leslie teaches gerontology content in the MOT program at UBC. In the online program, she is an instructor for RHSC 505 - Measurement for Assessment, Planning, and Evaluation and has taught the Practice with the Elderly topic of RHSC 583 Applying Research to Practice.

Her leisure interests include playing the cello, gardening, cooking, skiing, kayaking, and hiking with her dog.
